From CLANT President Marty Aust:
I will not be renominating for President at this year’s meeting. I have very much enjoyed my tenure as President for the past four years and it has been an honour and a privilege to serve the committee and the membership over this period. It has been a very tough role and we have seen a number of disappointing policy reforms within the sector across the duration; more recently we have also witnessed challenges, setbacks and interruptions due to the implications of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Despite these difficulties the committee has worked tirelessly to promote the objects of our Constitution through media and community engagement. We have contributed through numerous submissions on important policy reviews and reforms, provided feedback and participated in a number of meetings, forums and workshops with the executive as well as with Ministers and ministerial staff.
I want to thank the committee(s) for their support over the past four years.
I hope to see many fresh faces nominate for the various roles available on the committee, and commend service to anybody who feels they have the time, energy, ideas, passion and social responsibility to promote a better functioning and more equitable criminal justice system for future generations in the Northern Territory.
Plerase return completed proxy forms and nomination forms to our secretary, Sarah Gibbs via email: email@example.com
An official notice will be placed in the NT News in compliance with our obligations. We will release our audited financials, Annual Report and both the Treasurer’s and President’s reports in due course, so that each can be tabled at the meeting and we can truncate proceedings and get to the voting and celebrations.
I look forward to seeing you all there on 5 November 2021.
