Remembering Jamie Gallacher
17 September 1955 – 3 September 2026
CLANT is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Jamie Gallacher this month following a brief illness. A much-loved member of the extended CLANT family, Jamie brought warmth, generosity and an incredible sense of humour to our conferences and gatherings.
Jamie was a man with a big heart who cared deeply about making the Northern Territory a better place, including through meaningful justice reform. He was a friend to so many dingoes – always ready with advice, encouragement, a good story or a home-cooked meal that brought people together.
Jamie knew how to have a good time and made sure everyone around him did too.
His beloved partner, NT Supreme Court Justice Jenny Blokland an initial member and Life Member of CLANT. In support of Jenny, Jamie was a constant presence at legal events and in the CLANT community. He happily embraced the title of “handbag” partner, but his contribution was very much his own. His humour, friendship, enthusiasm, and rockstar energy were woven into the fabric of CLANT conferences. We are especially grateful that Jamie and Jenny attended the CLANT Life Members’ Dinner in June this year, during CLANT’s 20th Biennial Conference in Sanur.
Above all, Jamie’s love for Jenny and his family shone through everything he did. We extend our deepest condolences and love to Jenny, Anton, Helena, Van, and all who knew and loved him.
CLANT conferences will never quite be the same without Jamie. We are grateful for the many years of laughter and friendship we shared.
Vale Jamie. You will always be part of the CLANT family.
